Little Lime’s birthday was this week. More on that later this week…but for now I wanted to share my new love for fleece. I think I missed the fleece bandwagon of 5 years ago. I have not been a huge fan until recently. Now I have to stop myself from making EVERYTHING with fleece. It’s so comfy and warm (and easy to work with)!

Back to Lime. Ummm…she loves shoes. You can find her trying to stuff anything that is or may look like a shoe on her foot, so I wanted to learn how to make her a few pairs. I have downloaded a few different patterns but THIS bootie tutorial at Come What May And Love It are the ones I can’t stop making. They are a little more practical for toddlers than actual shoes. First, I used them for her costume and then I changed them up a bit with this pair for her big day. I let the bottom seams hang-all-out because I thought it was cool looking. Cute eh? She loves them and they hold up very well. Inside or outside the house. I just throw them in the wash afterwords and they are as good as new! I have plans for a few other alterations…let me know if your interested and I’ll share.

Glad you are enjoying my bootie pattern. The little ruffle you added on the outside is darling, and I’d love to stay posted on whatever other modifications you add to the pattern. Have fun!

I love them! I’ll have to try making some for my grandbaby.

These are adorable! I was just thinking today I need to learn how to cobble shoes because both of my kids have gone up a size in less than a month! LOL They are sending me to the poor house in shoes alone. Where do you find the stuff for the bottoms so she can walk outside?

Felicia, I found the non-skid fabric at Joannes. It was pretty cheap too! $5 a yard and you hardly need any at all. I’m thinking of putting some waterproof lining in between the layers but that might be over the top.

They are very easy…you really should try it!

Do you not sew on the elastic? They are adorable!

  8. Magen says:

Yes, I do sew in the elastic. When you turn them over it gets hidden. You can also show the seam but I think it looks better without.

These are so cute! I am going to make some for my son in a boy fabric, and some like this for my niece. I guess my entire family, adults and all are getting some form of fleece boots for christmas!
