Weekly Update: November 7, 2010

The big news of this week is that Little Lime turned 1. It’s really unbelievable. She is such a sweet, fun and incredibly happy baby that I want her to stay a baby FOREVER! Why do they have to grow up so fast? She celebrated by opening a few presents and eating her first birthday cake. You can watch the video HERE. Don’t notice worry about the name on the cake. I may have misspelled my own daughters name but I misspell everything…so she can’t take it personally. I didn’t have spell check when I was frosting it!!
Miss Raine has persevered through her reading lessons with me and is now on lesson 20 of 100. It’s pretty exciting that she can now sound out words. I’m learning patience AND how to sound out words myself…because I’m pretty sure I did not process this skill when I should have, 20 years ago. Husband laughs at me when he hears me practicing sounds but I really want to get it right for her and this stuff is hard. For example, d. It’s not duh, dih or dah. It’s d. Blows my mind.

You crack me up! You reeeally misspelled her name?? LOL! The video is too cute! You look great, too! HAPPY BIRTHDAY Miss Lime!
Yes, I did. Honestly, I get confused all the time if her name has one or two L’s. I stop and think almost every time I write it :) But I obviously was too excited about my frosting that I wasn’t thinking this time! Like I said…she can’t take it personally. I misspell everything.
gosh i hope kalobs side of the family doesnt throw any weird genes in my mix, cuz people say lime looks like us, and i hope my kids look like her. dang cute. good thing raine is reading!! i have a feeling kalob will be testing her skills when you visit. probably her arithmetic too. last time he asked her about that, she didnt know what it was :)
I think she definitely is going to look more like a Holgate. I love it. Hopefully Raine will be up to snuff. It’s a 100 lessons…so she won’t have all the sounds down by then but will be very close. Math is not even apart of our life plan right now. But I will try to teach her what Arithmetic is.
Happy Birthday. And this is a great hat. Thanks for stopping by.
