Hello everyone! Thank you so much for stopping by. This is where I tell you about myself, I wish I could tell you that this is awkward for me. Here it goes, I’m a young, overachiever, multitasking mom and therapist by trade.  I enjoy parenting, making things, listing things and  using lots of comas, thrifting, reading, growing our food, cooking, eating, psychiatric voyeurism, photography, the outdoors and being a poor student family because some of my more outrageous ideas become sensible in context. I value living responsibly, introspection and family.

Currently, we live in Eugene, OR, while Husband is attending law school. I’m living the dream, juggling a million things at once.

About This Site

This blog, Mae.Mae. Daily, is a place for me to make Internet friends, organize and document thoughts, hobbies, family happenings, experiments, achievements, lists and most importantly, providing opportunities for me to hint things for my husband. I often create series of blog post themes to encourage regular posts…the whole point of my blogging is to become a better writer.

Please encourage me by following along my ventures. I love sharing my life with readers and enjoy reading and replying to comments…so please leave them :) I look forward to hearing from you!

DIY.

I post about crafty things we are doing around the house, sewing projects or re-purposing stuff. I’m a very visual person. I love paying attention to design, color and details. If you don’t believe me check out my Pinterest Boards .

Around Town.

A chance to document and share our adventures. I hope that you can glean some outing ideas for your family from these posts.  We live in Eugene, OR and previously lived in Salt Lake City, UT. One thing that is great about Eugene is that you can bike everywhere…so often our activities are close to home and always frugal!

Werd.

For books! As you can tell from the exclamation point I’m very excited about this. I LOVE to read. I’m truly a word nerd and have been since my parents gave me a set of the Laura Ingalls Wilder books for Christmas when I was little . Normally, I do all my book socializing on Goodreads but like to share my favorites here, with my readers, as well as have you share with me. Please let me know what you’re reading or join Goodreads and be my book friend :)

My favorites often include young adult fiction (usually in  the fantasy genre), adult fiction, crafty books and cookbooks. I also post often about books I’m reading with the girls.

Therapism.

As some of you know…I’m a psychotherapist. I just never write about it, although it’s a huge part of my life. It’s time I start jotting down some of my experiences and expertise. If you have an questions in regards to mental health please email me (magenholgate@gmail.com) and I’ll make an effort to write a post. Who knows…maybe I’ll compile all of this for a book someday…

My experience includes working at a family counseling center where I specialized in play therapy but also worked with individuals and couples. I also have worked as a crisis intervention specialist in a emergency room.

Foodie.

The easiest blog day and my favorite. I love good food! I review recipes by other bloggers as well as post some of my own.

I have a food philosophy, you can read about it in Michael Pollan’s book “Food Rules“. We try to eat unprocessed food, mostly vegetables, almost everything homemade and we don’t eat out much. This is for health reasons and also for financial reasons. It may not sound appetizing but let me tell you, we go through butter so fast it shouldn’t be legal. We also try to buy organic and local when we can…but most of the time we can’t because it really is twice as much on the wallet. I have grown food in the past but currently don’t have a yard. So for now, I’ll forgo the gardening tips and stick with the recipes!

Some Extra Stuff I’ve Got Going On….

Online Bulletin Boards where I organize my inspirations. This is a good place to search for tutorials and recipes that are on my to-do list.

You can sometimes catch me on the twitter band wagon.
